Josh Hazlewood is also out with an Achilles problem. Ashton Agar is returning home as the team management does not have any plans for him in the series. Instead, he will play in the Sheffield Shield.

Toddy Murphy is fighting a side strain while Mitchell Swepson is already in Australia for the birth of his child. Pacer Lance Morris is also looking to play in Sheffield Shield as Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green are fit to play.

Two of them (Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood) have been unavailable for both Tests, two more (Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Swepson) have been available for just one Test each and another (Matthew Kuhnemann) played in Delhi despite not being in the original 18-man group.

Australia coach Andrew McDonald declared that a freshly revised squad will be announced on Wednesday as they go through changes.

“We’re working through that so it won’t be form as such but there’s cricket going on back home. With a few players now becoming fit and available, are we carrying too many? “We’ve got to be clear on what we want to achieve in the next two Test matches in terms of the structure of the team. There’s an opportunity for players to be playing cricket back home and we value that,” McDonald said.
