Opting to bowl, India battered Scotland batsmen with spin attack. Ravindra Jadeja bagged three wickets while Varun Chakravarthy and Ashwin bagged a wicket apiece while Mohammed Shami’s 3/15 and Jasprit Bumrah’s 2/10 meant, Scotland folded in 85 runs.

India needed to chase the target in 7.1 overs to surpass Afghanistan and they did that in style. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul began hammering from the word-go and brought up fastest 50-run stand of the T20 World Cup 2021 in just 3.5 overs. KL Rahul smashed an 18-ball 50, fastest of this WC and Rohit Sharma scored 30 off 16 balls as India chased the target with Suryakumar hammering a six off Chris Greaves to take a huge NRR boost.
The win meant, India moved to third in Group 2 with 4 points from as many games with an NRR of +1.619. New Zealand are in second spot with 6 points. India will now eagerly wait for Afghanistan vs New Zealand match and if Afghans win, India will have a huge chance to progress to the semifinals if they beat Namibia in the last match.

What India need to qualify for the semi-final?
- India need to register huge wins the next two games, with games against Namibia and Scotland. But that too will only come to play if Afghanistan beats New Zealand.
- If New Zealand beats Afghanistan – India, Afghanistan will be out & New Zealand will qualify as 2nd time, provided they also beat Namibia.
