What happened to Shami? Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead up to the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to take part in the three-match series.

The opportunity comes at just the right time for Umran Malik. One may call it a lucky break, but then all he could do is to don the blue Jersey, and bowl as fast as he can to uproot the Bangladesh batsmen stumps.
He was a member of the T20 and ODI teams on the recently concluded New Zealand tour. However, all he could do was warm the benches while patiently waiting for his chance.
Umran Malik, nicknamed the “Kashmir Express” for the raw pace he generates, is one of Indian cricket’s brightest stars. With Shami out of the ODIs due to injury, the pace attack will be Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Umran Malik, and Kuldeep Sen for the three-match series against Bangladesh.
Umran Malik has the ability to consistently clock speeds in excess of 145 km/h. Earlier this year, the 23-year-old made his T20 and ODI debuts. He has featured in 3 ODIs and as many T20Is for the Blues. and represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL
