Not only the ODI series, but Tamim could also miss the 1st Test starting on December 14. It is unclear who leads the Bangla Tigers in Iqbal’s absence. Mominul Haque is the Test skipper, while Shakib Al Hasan was reappointed as skipper in T20Is.

Ace speedster Taskin Ahmed is out of contention for the 1st ODI on Sunday in a massive blow to Bangladesh. As per a Cricbuzz report, Taskin complained of a back issue. His participation for the remainder of the series is in the dark, with tests scheduled. Meanwhile, Shorfiful Islam is named backup.

“Taskin is ruled out from the opening game of the ODIs as his back pain recurred. We will see his progress before taking further decision regarding his participation,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz on Thursday.

Taskin is Bangladesh’s spearhead after former captain Mashrafe Mortaza’s retirement. The right-arm quick also boasts a favourable record against India. In 6 games, Taskin has 12 wickets against the Men in Blue, with a fifer on debut. He has an economy of 4.79 and an average of just 17.16. Tamim also has a good record against India in ODIs. In 18 matches, the Bangladesh veteran has 7 50+ scores against the Men in Blue.
