While sitting in the commentary box, Ravi Shastri responded to the Ahmedabad pitch and said, “We need to talk about these numbers – 91 wickets over seven days and 15 wickets over four days. So what do you want, this kind of a pitch or the other pitches? You don’t want to finish in three days yes, totally agree, but that could also be because of incompetent batting. I hope all those whiners about Indian pitches are happy now.”
Australian cricketer Mark Waugh also called the Ahmedabad pitch the ’22-day pitch’. The final match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy is heading towards a draw after 19 wickets fell in the first four days of play. Australia scored a mammoth total of 480 runs in their first innings, with centuries from Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green. In response, Rohit Sharma & Co put up a score of 571 runs and took a 91-run lead. Virat Kohli smashed 188 runs, and Shubman Gill scored 128 runs.
