India A squad NewZeland Series – Priyank Panchal announced captain: Priyank Panchal has been announced captain for the India A team. They will face New Zealand A in three four-day matches, scheduled for next month in Bengaluru. The Black Caps will also face India in three white-ball matches in Chennai. The Indian team for this format is yet to announced.
However, both Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill have not been considered for the series. It is important to note that both the players have signed up for county side and will ply their trade in England.
The four-day matches are going to be important for the Indians in the squad. A solid impression in the four-day matches can help grab attention of the selectors.Some of the players including Sarfaraaz Khan have scored bucket of runs in the domestic cricket and will be eager to continue that for India A as well.
IND A vs NZ A Squad
- The likes of Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Saurabh Kumar and KS Bharat are all part of the red ball squad.
- Prasidh Krishna, who is now a part of the Test squad and Umran Malik, are picked for the A games.
- Sarfaraz Khan (982 runs), who was in South Africa and had a stellar Ranji Trophy season, has been included. It comes as no surprise
- Rajat Patidar, after a fine IPL and 600 plus runs in Ranji Trophy, was an automatic choice.
- There is an international pedigree in the spin department with Kuldeep Yadav and Rahul Chahar in the mix
The likes of Priyank, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Tilak Varma and KS Bharat are domestic performers and deserved their squad as well. In the bowling department, India look strong. If the likes of Kuldeep and Rahul CHahar hold international pedigree, the likes of Umran Malik and Prasidh Krishna will use this series to enhance their reputation.
