Suzie Bates (New Zealand)

The evergreen New Zealand batter continues to score a mountain of runs and it was no different during December as the experienced right-hander dined out on Bangladesh in consecutive white-ball series on home soil.

Bates managed 70 runs at an average of 23.33 as New Zealand clinched the T20I component of the series 3-0 at the start of the month, before the 35-year-old produced even more impressive results in the 50-over clashes.

The former White Ferns’ skipper smashed an unbeaten 93* in Wellington to put New Zealand on the right path and then hit another half-century in the final game of the series in Hamilton to help her side continue their dominance.

It was no surprise that Bates won the Player of the Series award for her efforts during the ODI matches, with the consistent opener finishing with an impressive 153 runs and dismissed just once.

Charlie Dean (England)

The emerging England star of the future enjoyed her time in the Caribbean during December as she helped herself to a total of 18 wickets in two white-ball series against the West Indies.

Dean helped herself to seven wickets at a miserly average of just 8.57 during the three-game ODI series at the start of the month and exceeded those astonishing figures during the T20I series.

The 22-year-old featured in four of the five matches during the T20I series and finished as the leading wicket taker with a total of 11 scalps at an average of 5.90.

Dean’s economy rate during both series was also exemplary, with the right-armer allowed just 2.92 runs per over in the 50-over matches and 4.64 in the shortest format.

While Dean was rarely required with the bat, she did chip in with a quickfire 20 at better than a run-a-ball when coming in at No.9 in the fourth match of the T20I series in Bridgetown.

Ashleigh Gardner (Australia)

The underrated Australian star continues to go from strength to strength and the 25-year-old was at her brilliant best with both bat and ball during the five-match T20I series in India last month.

Not only did Gardner pick up the Player of the Series award for her performances during Australia’s dominant 4-1 series triumph, but the right-hander also reached the pinnacle when becoming the No.1 ranked all-rounder in women’s T20 cricket.

Gardner hit a total of 115 runs at a lofty average of 57.50 during the India series, with her unbeaten 66* during the fifth and final match of the series in Mumbai the best of her efforts.

But it wasn’t just with the bat that Gardner made strong contributions, with the clever right-arm spinner collecting seven wickets at a little more than 18 during the series.
