ICC Test Rankings: Team India are new World No.1 Test Team-  Virat Kohli-led India have dethroned World Test Champions New Zealand for World No.1 status after a thumping victory in the second Test in Mumbai and clinched series 1-0. With the victory, India have also avenged their loss against Blackcaps in WTC Finals. India rose 5 points in the ratings to 124 from 119 while New Zealand lost equal number of points to 121. IND beat NZ: Virat Kohli & Co continue India’s golden Test run at home, extends series winning streak to record consecutive 14th Test series

  • While India surged to 124 rating points, New Zealand dropped to 121 points (5 points difference)
  • In 2021, India won 4 matches and lost a lone game against England at home while one ended in a draw. Their latest 1-0 victory against New Zealand meant they have won 14 consecutive Test series in India.
  • India have defeated New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Australia to create a special record.
  • New Zealand remain winless in India since their 1988 victory in Mumbai. They have won just 2 games out of 36 games in India. The hosts have won 17 matches while equal numbers of games ended in a draw.
  • When it comes to home Test matches, India have lost just a couple of games since 2013. They won 35 matches, Drew 3 and lost 2 games.
  • Meanwhile, Australia will look to improve its place during the upcoming The Ashes. They have 108 ratings. They are placed third in the latest ICC Rankings. England are fourth with 107 ratings.

Virat Kohli’s side is now three points ahead of second-placed New Zealand in the ICC Test Rankings. While Australia is in third place with 108 points. Currently, India has 124 points while New Zealand has 121 points.

England is in the fourth spot with 107 points. Both Australia and England will have a chance to improve their ranking as they lock horns in the five-match Ashes.
