India already lost Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar to injuries even before the T20 WC began.
“He had some issues with his back and I didn’t meet him after the match. I’ll talk to him once we go back to the hotel and wait for the physio’s report,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said at the post-match press conference.

The massive blow for Team India took place ahead of the 16th over. Rising India wicket keeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is still to get a game in the T20 World Cup 2022, replaced Pant after the incident took place. Incidentally, Karthik had suffered an injury scare during a fielding practice session on Saturday.

Who can replace Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI? – Pant will be the straightforward replacement for Karthik in the playing XI for Team India. Apart from the Delhi batter, India have another wicket-keeping option in KL Rahul. But it will be Pant who has been picked as the specialist keeper for the marquee event.
Karthik, who was designated as a finisher for Team India in the T20 World Cup 2022, had looked out of touch in the T20 World Cup 2022 from the onset. He scored one run against arch-rivals Pakistan but did not get to bat vs the Netherlands. He, however, continued to disappoint as he scored six runs against South Africa.
In Pant, India will find a left-hand batting option, which might bring in some balance to the side.
