Why ICC Rejected the proposal? The proposal for a quadrangular T20 event had acquired some support ahead of Ramiz’s formal presentation.

According to various sources, a number of boards during the Chief Executive Meetings (CEC) backed the idea on Friday. It was reported that the cricket boards of England (ECB), Australia (CA), West Indies (CWI) and Pakistan (PCB) were in favour.

But during the BOARD MEETING, board members unanimously rejected the proposal.

What does the ICC Event Norms say? As per the ICC regulations, “any tournament involving the National Representative Teams of more than three National Cricket Federations” is deemed to mean an ICC event.

This means it is run by the ICC and sold commercially as an ICC event. This also means that all proceeds of such commercial activity are divided between members.

The plan would have required India and Pakistan to play regularly and exclude eight full members.

This is the reason plan could not get the green signal.

New ICC Chairman: Meanwhile the election to the Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will take place only in December, and not now.

After a series of meetings in Dubai this week, the ICC administrators have decided that the elections process can be initiated later in the year and not in May-June as was thought of earlier.

The official position in delaying the election process is that the current chairman, Greg Barclay, is being persuaded to complete his full two-year term.

It was previously reported that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah are in the race to become the new chairman of ICC. The current chairman Greg Barclay’s two-year term coming to an end this year.

The chairman election will now take place at the end of Novemeber.

Venue for Asia Cup: ICC members are expected to hold talks regarding the venue of the upcoming 2022 Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka is slated to stage the competition from 27 August. But with economic turmoil in the nation, ICC might be forced to change the venue.
