I-League: I-League outfit Rajasthan United have roped in Argentine defender Mauro Dos Santos for the upcoming I-League which will resume soon. Mauro Santos started his career at Club Atletico Banfield’s U-20 team and gradually made his way through to the senior team. He featured for Banfield for four years and in 2012 he made his first journey of Argentina as he joined Spanish outfit Real Murcia. He continued two years at Murcia before moving to La Liga outfit UD Almeria in 2014.

He made his La Liga debut on 23rd August in a 1-1 draw against Espanyol. But unfortunately, Almeria got relegated to the Segunda Division. But the Argentinian defender was signed by Eibar as he stayed in La Liga. The Argentine continued to play for Eibar for a couple of seasons in the La Liga and played against some of the top players in the world.
The 32-year-old then joined Leganes ahead of the 2017-18 season and after spending a single season at Los Pipernos he moved to the Segunda Division again. This time he joined Tenerife. After a season in Segunda Division, he decided to try out a new adventure in Japan as he joined second-tier outfit Albirex Niigata. Last year he then returned to his native Argentina joining Godoy Cruz.
Mauro has mostly spent his career in Argentina and Spain and has rubbed shoulders with some of the top players in the world. Apart from plying his trade for the various clubs all across the globe, he has also featured for Argentina u20 national team.
Mauro Dos Santos comes to Indian shores with over 80 La Liga appearances and is undoubtedly the biggest signing of the season in the I-League. He will strengthen the backline for Rajasthan United for the upcoming season.
Rajasthan United have released their earlier signed foreigner starting with Marcelinho who joined Indian Super League outfit NorthEast United whereas Komron Tursunov was also released as the Tajik winger joined Churchill Brothers.
Apart from Mauro Dos Santos, Rajasthan United has also signed star Spanish striker Pedro Manzi who has won the league in the past with Chennai City. They have also signed former Indian Arrows midfielder Ricky Shabong and former Bengaluru FC defender Biswa Darjee for the upcoming season.
