Hylo Open Badminton Highlights – Lakshya loses to Angus Ng: World No.8 Lakshya Sen suffered his second successive first round defeat on the BWF Tour as he lost in straight games against Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long in first round of Hylo Open on Tuesday. Lakshya Sen, who is the seventh seed was completely dominated by the unseeded Long as he clinched a 21-12, 21-5 victory. Earlier in the day, India’s Mixed Doubles pair Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto faced a 13-21, 12-21 defeat against China’s Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Pin in the first round. First Game
Lakshya Sen vs Angus Ng Ka Long
It was a very poor show by the 21-year old Lakshya Sen as he lost 12-21 5-21 in the opening round, a match that lasted just 27 minutes.
He was completely outplayed by the lesser ranked Hong Kong player as Sen struggled throughout the match.
In the first game, Sen lost the way after 2-2 and Angus soon started dominating as he grabbed the next seven points on the trot and to lead 9-2 and the entered the break with a 11-4 lead. Lakshya managed to slowly make a comeback in the contest but he however couldn’t take back the lead and surrendered in the first game with the score at 21-12.
The second game was even worse for Sen as Long raced to a 8-2 lead at the start of the set and entered the break with a massive 11-3 lead. Lakshya Sen couldn’t do anything even after the break as the Hong Komg player ran away with the contest and pocketed the second game 21-5 to advance to the second round.
Ishaan Bhatnagar /Tanisha Crasto vs Feng Yan Zhe / Huang Dong Pin
In the mixed doubles, the Indian duo of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto lost 13-21 12-21 to the Chinese pair of Feng Yan
Zhe and Huang Dong Ping in the first round. Right from the start, the Feng-Huang pair started the game on a positive note. They took a 7-3 lead but the Indian pair soon fought back to reduce the deficit to just 8-9. But the Chinese pair didn’t let the Indians to level the score as they closed out the first game 11-8. They came back strongly after the break and won the first game 21-13.
In the second game too similar script continued as the Chinese pair lead the game right from the start and entered the break with a 11-8 lead. In the second half, they allowed the Indians to score just five more points as they closed out the game 21-13 to defeat the Indian pair in straight games.
