But as expected Conor was later stripped from his titles. Though Conor was in no way willing to give on on the possessed titles, the UFC authorities have the right to strip him of his title.

Due to Daniel Cormier’s injury, UFC 206 needed a new main event, and Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis was scheduled to fight for the interim featherweight title. This was the original impetus for the decision.

Conor McGregor Lose His UFC World Titles

Inside the confined ring, “The Notorious” didn’t lose any of his titles. Due to his protracted absence from the featherweight division, he relinquished his UFC featherweight title in 2016.

After defeating Frankie Edgar to earn the interim featherweight title at UFC 200 in July, Aldo threatened to leave the organisation after McGregor agreed to face Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight championship at UFC 205. 

Conor McGregor spent the following year competing against Nate Diaz twice at welterweight after winning the featherweight championship by defeating Jose Aldo at UFC 194.

How did Conor McGregor Lose His UFC World Titles?

McGregor had to choose whether he wanted to continue switching between the two weight divisions in an effort to keep the championships after his emphatic TKO victory against Alvarez to become the UFC’s first-ever two-division champion.

White had no other option but to remove McGregor’s featherweight championship because he hasn’t defended it since he won it at UFC 194 in December 2015. The Irishman took a break from boxing after defeating Alvarez to take on boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather in the squared circle. 

It was then that Conor lost his UFC World Titles due to inactivity.
