Ashish Kapoor, the assistant coach of Gujarat Titans went on to reveal that the GT skipper experienced a back sprain just before the start of the game. And therefore no risk was taken and Hardik was not asked to bowl as a means of precaution for the same. Kapoor further went on to reveal that the star all rounder experienced some stiffness on his back.
It was crucial for the Gujarat Titans to take a call and address the issue immediately. The team immediately decided that Hardik won’t bowl in the game. He however was an active player in the field.

As Gujarat went on to suffer a 27-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya’s stay on the crease was short. He managed to score just 4 runs from 3 deliveries before returning to the pavillion.
Though there are no further updates and Hardik not bowling is a precautionary check for the player. But with the IPL reaching to wards the end of the group stage and the knockouts near, GT wouldn’t want any more to their skipper.
