Formula 1: Who is Lewis Hamilton’s mom
Lewis Hamilton’s mom is none other than Carmen Larbalestier. She was born in 1955. In the year 1985, she gave birth to Lewis Hamilton. But, she separated from Anthony Hamilton when Lewis was just two years old.
Lewis was then raised by her mother, Carmen till the age of 12 alongside half-sisters Nicola and Samantha. Then Lewis moved to stay with his father Anthony, stepmother Linda, and half-brother Nicolas.
How is the relationship between Hamilton and his mom Carmen
The seven-time F1 champion shares an excellent relationship with his mother. Carmen has been out of the limelight but she had made appearances in some big races.
It was at the Chinese Grand Prix in 2008, Carmen was seen embracing his son, Lewis alongside stepmother Linda Hamilton. It was just two weeks before Lewis became the F1 champion for the first time.
Carmen was also present at the Mexico Grand Prix in 2017. She shared a hug with Lewis Hamilton after he secured his fourth F1 title.
Lewis even went out of the box and held a surprise 60th birthday party for his mom in London in 2015. He even got singer Jessie J to sing at the event and make the party even more special.

Hamilton has posted so many pictures from the party on his Instagram handle. One of the picture’s caption read “So much planning and hard work, all to surprise the most amazing woman in the world, and it was so worth it!! Love you Mum. Happy birthday.”

Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton adding his mother’s surname
On March 14th, 2022, Lewis Hamilton announced that he is going to change his name. He took this step just to honor his mother, Carmen.

Lewis while attending the Dubai Expo said, “I’m really proud of my family’s name: Hamilton. Actually, none of you might know that my mum’s surname is Larbalestier. And I’m just about to put that in my name. Because I don’t really fully understand the whole idea of why, when people get married, the woman loses her name.”
Hamilton was asked whether he would change his name for the first race held in Bahrain. To which Lewis replied, “It will be soon. No, I don’t know if it will be this weekend. But we’re working on it.”
