Shubman Gill looked rock solid during his splendid innings of 84 that comprised 6 boundaries and 4 massive sixes at a strike rate of 182+. Gill kept on hitting boundaries and sixes to go past his highest individual score of 76 in IPL.
“It felt good. It felt good to contribute runs for myself and the team. I didn’t realise that (about his low dot ball percentage) but that was the plan. To keep rotating the strike and take the singles whenever possible,”Shubman Gill told the host broadcaster Star Sports.
I think the wicket was pretty good. Was holding a bit in the start but as the game went on, I thought it settled down. I feel anywhere between 165-180 is a good score on this wicket, so hopefully, we will be able to defend it,” he added.
With KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Shikar Dhawan favourites for the opening slot, Gill needs to ensure he plays a number of such innings to make cuts in the India squad for T20 World Cup in Australia.
