Following a period of criticism from the devoted gaming community, the development team has finally made an announcement about lowering the minimum age eligibility for award nomination.
Garena Lowered the Age Limit for the Booyah Awards
Before, the guidelines required that the participants and creators who were 18 years old or above can only be considered as candidates for such high-profile community honors.
But through the recent official update posted on the Free Fire India Official Instagram page, there has been a major change in the age requirement. It has been officially announced that the minimum age will no longer be 18 but instead reduced to 16.

As per the official statement on the poster, “After listening to your feedback, the minimum age requirement to be considered for nomination for The Booyah Awards 2026 is 16+. You’re eligible to be considered if you’re 16 or older.”

A significant portion of the highly active Free Fire MAX ecosystem consists of younger players, teenage prodigies, and rising streamers.
