Garena lowers the nomination age for the Free Fire Booyah Awards 2026 from 18 to 16 after community feedback, opening doors for young creators.

The Garena team recently announced a huge update for gamers and fans of esports who are eagerly anticipating the next Free Fire Booyah Awards 2026. Following a period of criticism from the devoted gaming community, the development team has finally made an announcement about lowering the minimum age eligibility for award nomination.

Garena Lowered the Age Limit for the Booyah Awards

Before, the guidelines required that the participants and creators who were 18 years old or above can only be considered as candidates for such high-profile community honors.

But through the recent official update posted on the Free Fire India Official Instagram page, there has been a major change in the age requirement. It has been officially announced that the minimum age will no longer be 18 but instead reduced to 16.

The poster explicitly mentioned the caption, “We heard you!” signifying that this move came about due to the strong objections raised by the gaming community. As per the official statement on the poster, “After listening to your feedback, the minimum age requirement to be considered for nomination for The Booyah Awards 2026 is 16+. You’re eligible to be considered if you’re 16 or older.”

Why This Matters for the Community

A significant portion of the highly active Free Fire MAX ecosystem consists of younger players, teenage prodigies, and rising streamers. Restricting the nominations exclusively to adults meant completely shutting out some of the most popular, skilled, and influential content creators in the current mobile gaming scene.

With such a low age limit set at 16 years old, Garena is doing a great job providing opportunities for the youngsters to showcase their talents to the world and receive the attention they deserve.

Younger creators will now finally have a fair opportunity to stand alongside other players.
