- 21-year old Felix Auger Aliassime is looking to enter the quarterfinals at the French Open for the first-ever time in his career.
- It is the only Grand Slam event in which the 21-year old has not entered the quarterfinal so far.
- He has so far struggled for his victories in the tournament. He was almost staring at a first round defeat this year by losing the first two sets against qualifier JP Carillas.
- He however fought back brilliantly to win the next three sets. In the next round, he defeated Ugo Carabelli in straight sets.
- Against Filip Krajinovic in the third round, he had to fight hard to seal straight set victory, with two sets going into the tie-breaker.
Nadal vs Aliassime Head-to-Head: This will be the second meeting between both the players. They last met in the 2019 Madrid Open with Nadal winning the game in straight sets. Nadal is once again the favourite in the upcoming contest.
Auger-Aliassime is coached by Nadal’s uncle, Toni, who was Nadal’s coach ever since his childhood until the uncle and nephew parted ways in 2017. Speaking about it Nadal said, “For me it’s very simple. He’s my uncle. I don’t think he will be able to want me to lose, without a doubt, but he’s a professional and he’s with another player. I don’t know what’s going to happen, if he’s going to stay in the box or not, but I don’t care. I have zero problem with that. So it’s not a story at all for me.”
