Formula 1: Redemption for Charles Leclerc as the Ferrari driver vows not to repeat the same mistake: Charles Leclerc has taken a vow that he will not repeat the mistake that saw him miss out on a potential podium finish at the Imola Grand Prix. While pursuing the second-placed Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, an excursion over the kerbs saw the Ferrari driver spin his car out of control at the Variante Alta chicane. Leclerc after finishing sixth in the Imola Grand Prix said, “It’s one of those mistakes where it is a bit more the mental approach you’ve had at that particular moment of the race.”

“But I’ve always been strong in knowing exactly which particular feeling I felt at what moment of the race. And know how to correct it. So yeah, it’s a mistake. But I’ll learn from it and won’t do it again.”

Leclerc had a brush with the barrier and required a visit back to the pits for front wing fixes. The Monegasque in the long run returned home in the 6th spot, and missed out on a potential second or a third place finish.

The deficiency of points could demonstrate the urgency to his title chances as adversaries Red Bull appear to make strides based on Ferrari in conditions of speed. However, losing a podium finish at such a crucial phase of the race demonstrated exorbitantly and Leclerc is sure he will gain from the experience.

It would be not difficult to blame Leclerc for capitulating to strain from a Red Bull group that had been possibly quicker the entire end of the week. However, the Ferrari driver has excused such claims.

“Obviously we’ve had pressure not only during the race but for the whole weekend. And I don’t think I’ve done many mistakes before. It was the mistake that cost me a lot and I’ll learn from it. But no, on my side there was no particular added pressure whatsoever,” Leclerc added.

Meanwhile, Leclerc is logical about the circumstance as the Monegasque actually keeps a noteworthy lead over ruling World Champion Max Verstappen. Had he not finished, Leclerc would have enjoyed a lead of only 19 points.

“With the mistake actually, I have been a bit lucky because I’ve only lost seven points again to what I could have scored. But it’s seven points that could be valuable at the end of the season. And every point counts when you are driving for the title. So yeah, it won’t happen again,” Leclerc concluded.
