Formula 1 News: Sebastian Vettel’s Aston Martin F1 team announces Aramco as new sponsor for 2022 season

The long-term partnership means that the British squad will now be known as the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula 1 Team. The deal between both the companies was announced on Thursday.

According to a team statement, the deal will include sponsorship rights, a licensing agreement, joint research, and the development of sustainable fuels. It will also have advanced lubricant and non-metallic materials in the vehicles.

The Saudi Arabian company, Aramco already has an agreement with Formula 1. Their ads are visible on the trackside in several races over the course of the season.

Formula 1 News: What Lawrence Stroll feels about the deal

The team owner of Aston Martin, Lawrence Stroll has his say on the sponsorship deal with Aramco.

Stroll said, “We are in a competitive sport and everybody tries hard to win. So I’m happy to welcome a superb partner in the form of Aramco. I have learned from this process that they have a tremendous amount of intellectual property and technical capability. This will only help our cause to achieve our goals of winning Formula 1 world championship.”

He further added, “Our partnership demonstrates the scale of our ambition to make Aston Martin a pioneer in the sport. We can also be a winning force in Formula 1 and showcase the sustainability and performance of the Aramco products.”

Formula 1 News: What Aramco’s senior vice-president thinks of the deal

Aramco’s senior vice president Mohammed Al Qahtani has his say on the deal with Aston Martin. He added, “It Is Aramco’s efforts to reduce emissions in the global automotive and transport industries too.”

Mohammed Al Qahtani further added, “Our main aim is to supply premium fuels and lubricants to the global automotive sector. Our deal with Aston Martin will help drive awareness of our high-end products. This alliance will harness the shared commitment to engineering excellence and innovation. Meanwhile, we have the potential of delivering results both on and off the track.”

Aston Martin will unveil their car to the public on February 10th in their headquarters in Gaydon. The team finished seventh in the constructors’ championship in the 2021 Formula 1 season. It had dropped three places from the 2020 season when their name was Racing Point.

Aston Martin will have an unchanged driver line-up with Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll driving for them.
