Formula 1: Nelson Piquet could be banned for life by F1 bosses: The former driver and three- times F1 champion Nelson Piquet could be facing a life ban from the motorsport after his racist comments on Lewis Hamilton went viral on social media. Meanwhile, Piquet got a lot of backlash from fans and may never attend an F1 race in the future. Follow Formula 1 Updates and British Grand Prix Live on InsideSport.IN.

The 69-year-old used the N-word in the Portuguese language after Hamilton’s collided with Verstappen last year at the British Grand Prix. “The n****r put the car in the wrong way and didn’t let [the other driver swerve],” Piquet said.

“The n****r put the car in the wrong way on the corner, it’s because you don’t know the curve. It’s a very high curve, there is no way to pass two cars and there’s no way you can put the car aside. He did [Verstappen] dirty. His luck was that only the other one was gone,” Piquet added.

Meanwhile, Piquet, whose daughter Kelly is in a relationship with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been condemned for his remarks in a 2021 interview. During the brief audio clip, the three-time title holder can be heard referring to Hamilton as ‘neguinho’ (a designation that means ’n****r’).

The Sun revealed Piquet could confront a lifetime ban from the sport where he won the titles in 1981, 1983, and 1987. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was quick to show his help for Hamilton and said F1 needs to ‘eliminate biased conduct and racist language in any structure’.

Meanwhile, the Brit driver was quick to respond to this and tweeted in Portuguese that people should ‘focus on changing the mindset’. He also added that ‘the time has come to take action’ having raised worry with F1’s racial disparity previously.

Hamilton has become something of an image in the battle for equality and is the only black driver on the F1 grid. The seven-time title holder has risked bringing about the FIA’s anger in the past by advancing messages and the Black Lives Matter development by means of shirts and trademarks.

Meanwhile, he even joined former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in taking the knee as a type of dissent against the police’s discrimination against the minorities in the United States. He likewise wore a shirt at the Tuscan Grand Prix in 2020 that read ‘Arrest the police who killed Breonna Taylor’, featuring the misfortune where Taylor was unlawfully killed in her home.

Even F1 released a statement on their social media account saying, “Discriminatory or racist language is unacceptable and has no part in society. Lewis is an incredible ambassador for our sport and deserves respect. His tireless efforts to increase diversity and inclusion are a lesson to many and something we are committed to at F1.”
