The younger Andretti, an erstwhile IndyCar champion and expansive Prix racer, had been in successful takeover talks with the owners of Sauber, who run the Alfa Romeo team, but said in November last year that “control issues” led to a collapse of negotiations.

“Michael has applied to the FIA to field a new F1 team starting in 2024,” Mario Andretti, the 1978 Formula One world champion, wrote on Twitter.
“His entry, Andretti Global, has the resources and checks each box. He is awaiting the FIA’s determination.”

Michael Andretti has interests in IndyCar, the electric Formula E and Extreme E series as well as sportscars.
This season sees a new start in the Formula 1 era. As motorsport will go through a massive change in the new set of regulations. The car’s design has also changed and even the tyre size is now 18 inches. Teams like Audi, Porsche have shown interest in Formula 1 and can join motorsport in the coming years.
A total of eight teams have launched their car for the 2022 season. The pre-season test will take place in Barcelona from February 23rd to 25th. The second pre-season test will take place in Bahrain from 10th to 12th February. The season opener is also in Bahrain on March 20th.
