On being asked about the recent growth of Formula 1 in the United States, Hamilton said “It doesn’t really surprise me. I think it’s perhaps more a cultural thing, you know, here in the States, it’s the NFL, it’s NBA. It’s NASCAR, IndyCar.”

“But I think this new step that’s been taken, into bringing awareness, the Netflix show has really just brought in that amazing fan base, a sports fan base that we have, that there is here in the US. Maybe now’s the time to start focusing on how we can include more people here because it’s such a diverse country,” he further added.

Meanwhile, there is a raging debate on whether American star Colton Herta could replace Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren. The IndyCar driver expressed his desire to feature in Formula 1. Herta has 14 race wins under his belt in IndyCar and IndyCar Lights.
On the contrary, Daniel Ricciardo has had a poor start to the 2022 season. His best finish came at the Australian Grand Prix as he finished sixth. Ricciardo sits in the eleventh position in the Drivers’ standings with just 11 points to his name.
