Mark Webber has backed Max Verstappen as the Dutch driver won his first Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal recently and thinks he will again take this year’s title with time to spare. “Max could wrap it up with three races to go,” Webber said.

Verstappen has won six of the nine Grands Prix up to this point this season and is now in an exceptionally prevailing position. Moreover, his nearest rival is his own partner, Sergio Perez, who at present is just 46 points behind him. Furthermore, the third-placed Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is 3 points shy of the Mexican in the drivers’ standings.

Meanwhile, Webber, who left Red Bull toward the end of 2013, thinks his previous team have conveyed a competitor that is great regardless of the circumstances, and Verstappen is making the most out of it.

The Australian driver also thinks that Red Bull have a great package in the form of their RB18 challenger. Meanwhile, the Milton-Keynes-based team sorted out the reliability issues they suffered in the initial first three races.

“Red Bull will continue to dominate this championship. They have a car that is very good on downforce levels, on all compounds of tyre. It’s like a tennis player on all surfaces or a golfer on all holes, short, long, chipping, putting, driving, the Red Bull can do everything. Red Bull have pretty much an answer for anything at the moment,” Webber

The Australian driver accepts that Red Bull as of now favour Verstappen over his partner, particularly after the Dutchman’s recent run of form. “I like Sergio a lot but over the course of the season, over time, Max will just find a way to start accumulating bigger points,” Webber added.

“In Azerbaijan, Max drove away down the road, it was a very emphatic victory. Then in Canada it’s raining, it’s dry, it’s cold, it’s tricky and Max all weekend was phenomenal,” Webber concluded.
