It has come under lots of backlash after its Human Rights Violation and also the safety of the drivers after the missile attack on an oil facility. The future of Saudi Arabian GP remains hung in balance. The drivers raised their voices and expressed unhappiness at racing at the Jeddah Corniche circuit last week. Saudi Arabia holds a contract until 2025. But, that could possibly change after discussions are set to take place between F1 and the drivers.

Authorities have detained dozens of political protestors, human rights activists, women’s rights activists, and others since 2017. Prison authorities torture the detainees. Meanwhile, the authorities point some of their families to broad collective punishment.

In December 2020, women’s rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul was sentenced to over five years in prison. The charges against her were harming national security and trying to change the Saudi political system. She used her relations with foreign governments and rights groups to “pressure the Kingdom to change its laws and systems.”

Women were violated and also last year in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the workers there on the track were violated. With the money the Saudis have, they can’t run away with the matters regarding Human Right Violations.

Meanwhile, new tracks are being added to the Formula 1 calendar. Las Vegas will now hold an F1 race starting next year. It will be a street circuit and the race will take place on the famous Strip. It will be the third race in the US after Miami and Austin.

There are new tracks on the F1 calendar as well, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan. Deals with other tracks are under renegotiations as F1 continues to reshape the season ahead.

According to Racing News 365, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Azerbaijan are the tracks that pay £42million to host a race. Qatar will host a race in 2023 after a decade. Azerbaijan has also extended its contract till 2024.

China is all set to make a comeback in the Formula 1 calendar. It will shed around £38million to host the race. Bahrain pays £34million to host a race and they are second on the list for the 2022 season.

Hungary and Abu Dhabi pay £30.5million to host the race. Abu Dhabi has an exclusive contract with F1 as they host the last race of the season at the Yas Marina circuit. Australia is also making its comeback after two years and they pay £26.7million to host a race.

Singapore pays £26.7million to host the race. They hosted the first-ever night race in F1 in 2008. The Netherlands also hosted its first race last year after 36 years. They have to pay £24.5million to host a race at the Zandvoort track.

Canada also makes a comeback after two years. It didn’t host a race due to their coronavirus restrictions in the country. They will shed £28.8million to host a race in June in Montreal.
