According to Alexey Popov, a veteran Russian journalist and F1 pundit, FIA are looking set to keep on limiting any association with the country for a long time to come. “I think not (whether Sochi GP will return). And it’s not whether there is inside information or not, I simply don’t see what could lead to this. You have seen the reaction Formula 1 made about everything else,” he recently told Russian media.

“It’s one thing to break the contract, but quite another that Russian people can’t even go to the official website or watch videos on Youtube – even with a VPN! So what are we even talking about? I think there is nothing to talk about at all,” Popov concluded.
F1 statement on Russia:
“Formula 1 can confirm it has terminated its contract with the Russian Grand Prix promoter meaning Russia will not have a race in the future.”#F1

F1 has affirmed that Russia will never again organize a race after the Grand Prix had been planned to move to St Petersburg next season. It won’t be replaced on the schedule this season.

Alongside dropping its agreement with Russia, Formula 1 has likewise cut the transmission of races from the country’s TV organizations and stopped the real-time content on the web in the country.
Round 17 of the 2022 season has been left vacant following the cancellation of the Russian Grand Prix and it won’t be filled this season. This subsequently means that the 2022 F1 season will only have 22 races in it which was first going to have a record of 23 races.
