Liverpool was coming at Bernebau after suffering a 2-5 defeat at home in the first leg. The Red Devils needed a miraculous performance to qualify for the quarterfinals which didn’t happen. Both teams were in with chances in the first half but goalkeeper Alisson for Liverpool and Courtois for Real Madrid didn’t let their guard down.

However, after missing a few, Karim Benzema finally managed to find the back of the net to give Real Madrid a 1-0 lead which eventually proved to be enough to register a win at home.
