Man City vs Liverpool: After Liverpool pulled off a miracle against Manchester United, it’s safe to say that many Liverpool fans were hopeful that they were going to give a tough fight against Manchester City. However, it seems that the performance wasn’t only extremely poor, but they also managed to make boss Jurgen Klopp say that they probably couldn’t have won against 10-men Man City. Liverpool managed to take the lead 17 minutes into the match, but neither could they score more goals nor could they keep the hosts away from scoring. The young Argentine, Julian Alvarez equalized within 10 minutes after Liverpool’s goal. Then City went on to score 3 more in a game where Haaland was absent for them. Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and Jack Grealish all managed to get on the scoresheet along with Alvarez.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was quite dejected about today’s performance as during the post-match press conference he said, “City could pretty much do what they wanted. We are rather lucky that they only scored one more, that’s it now.” He added, “If you want to get something from here, then 14 or 15 players have to be on top of their game, and that was not the case, again.”
It seemed he could only manage to name four players who he thought gave ‘OK’ performances throughout the game as he said, “If you look at the game, I think we had around about four performances who were OK. The two midfielders, Hendo and Fab, worked a lot, tried to close gaps. Cody [Gakpo] worked a lot, especially in possession, tried to close gaps, and Alisson of course.”
A controversial moment came in the game when Manchester City’s no.16 Rodri who was already on a yellow card clashed with Gakpo and a counter attack from Liverpool’s side was bundled. Many believe that this was a yellow card offense and Rodri should’ve received a second yellow for that. Many people asked Klopp about his opinion on the matter and it seems he had a very gloomy response.

When asked if he thought Rodri should’ve received a yellow, he said, “I didn’t see it good enough. I realised the situation. Could he have got a second yellow? Yes, probably.” However, after saying that, he added, “I’m not sure we would have won against 10 men today.”
However, not everything was dreary from the Liverpool boss’ side. He did say that he knows what he has to do for the Reds to improve. He said, “I watch things, I analyse things and then I go again. So, emotions are never my problem. They are in moments on the sideline my problem but not after a game So, I know what I have to do but I have to make sure that it arrives in the right places.”
