Gabriel Jesus managed a spot in the first team today against Leeds United as Bukayo Saka was unavailable for Arsenal owing to illness. Since October, he had not scored in any matches, and as he received a bad knee injury during the World Cup, he has been recovering. This prolonged his goal drought to 6 months.

At the 35-minute mark, Jesus was twisting and turning inside the box as he avoided a tackle from Rasmus Kristensen. However, Luke Ayling fell to the ground and his overstretched leg collided with Jesus’ knee. Jesus fell inside the box and the referee did not hesitate to point to the penalty spot. Jesus came forward to take the penalty and scored Arsenal’s first goal.
However, this did not go down well with the fans as they took over the internet. They are sure that it was a soft touch from Ayling and it could not have caused such a fall for Jesus. They called out the player for cheating and diving in such a bad way. They started expressing how Jesus should not have been rewarded with the penalty.

Jesus scored his second goal 10 minutes into the second half. Both Ben White and Granit Xhaka also netted to get on the scoresheet. Arsenal matched their rivals Manchester City who also won with a 4-1 margin against Liverpool. Arsenal has still managed to keep their 8-point lead at the top of the table over Man City in second place with 9 matches to go.
