However, this is not the first time that City have the best odds to win it. On several occasions, they crashed out of the semi-finals and were closest to winning it in 2021. However, Chelsea crushed all their hopes in the finals and went on to win the trophy.
In the press conference before the 2nd leg against RB Leipzig, when asked if his career at City will be judged by the UCL trophy, Guardiola said, “Yes”. He added, “It doesn’t mean I agree with that, but absolutely we will be judged by this competition.”

“It’s really important to be alive for the last few months of the season, so you do as much as you can to extend the chance to be in the competitions, to still be in Europe, or in the Premier League, to be close to Arsenal,” he said.
Guardiola’s success at Manchester City
Guardiola is eyeing his 5th Premier League trophy with Man City. He has won 4 Premier League trophies, 4 EFL Cups, 1 FA Cup, and 2 community shields in 6 seasons so far. However, he is yet to win that prestigious UCL trophy with Man City. Guardiola has won 2 UCLs with Barcelona but never won one at Bayern Munich or Man City.
There must be pressure on the 52-year-old manager as his arrival at Etihad gave fans hope to win their first-ever UCL trophy. Notably, City’s management has made some big spending in order to make that dream come true. Guardiola also seems desperate to lift the trophy, as the manager has never stayed this long at any other club. He has extended his contract till 2025 and it will be interesting to see if he guides City to win the UCL before that.
