Meanwhile, Le Parisien claims that If Barcelona plans a move for Messi, it could include a number of unconventional financial ‘levers’. The Catalan giants will attempt to hand the World Cup winner a two-year contract with the option for a third. Messi may also be offered other incentives such as a percentage of sponsorship revenue, a portion of ticket sales, or a cut of the money they make selling his merchandise.
Barcelona’s vice-president Rafael Yuste has said Barca have been in contact with Lionel Messi and his agent. He made departure from Camp Nou in the summer of 2021.
Rafael Yuste said, “Leo and his family know the affection I have for them.”
He also added, “I participated in the negotiations which unfortunately did not lead to a certain result. I’ve always had and I have this thorn in my side that Leo couldn’t continue at our club. Messi knows how much we appreciate him. I would love for him to come back. We’re in contact, of course, with them.”
Barcelona is also considering other methods to reduce its wage bill and cut costs. To get Messi at Camp Nou, Barcelona needs to finalise an agreement with La Liga to re-register Gavi’s senior contract after it was revoked by a court.
