However, Barca finally broke the deadlock as Jordi Alba’s free-kick into the box found Ronald Araujo, whose header allowed Robert Lewandowski to score and give his team the lead. Barcelona continued to create chances but couldn’t capitalize before halftime.
Elche began the final period searching for an equalizer but were poor in their attacking efforts, which gave Barcelona even more space to counter-attack. In just 15 minutes, the Blaugrana scored three goals to put the game to bed, with Ansu Fati and Lewandowski scoring crucial goals. The fourth and final goal arrived shortly after from Ferran Torres.
This performance from Barcelona puts them one step closer to clinching the La Liga title. With such a comfortable lead at the top of the table, it seems likely that they will win the championship this season.
