World Hockey LIVE Broadcast – FIH Media Rights Tender: The ITT concerns the rights to multiple FIH competitions during the three-year period.

A bid deadline has been set of June 24.

This ITT concerns the following events:

FIH Current Media RIGHTS Holders: In the current cycle (2019-22), the FIH distributes its rights globally with the exception of the Indian subcontinent.

Disney Star India holds the rights for the Indian Sub-Continent market.

The Indian broadcaster had originally acquired the global rights, excluding Argentina, from 2015 to 2022. The agreement was cancelled in 2017.

In September 2020, the FIH launched a new fan engagement app which promised to stream live coverage of matches and become the ‘digital home of hockey’.

The Watch.Hockey app is powered by Nagra’s ‘sports-as-a-service’ platform.

The FIH chose to terminate its five-year deal with live streaming services company MyCujoo.

FIH entered into a 10-year agreement with Nagra to deliver a new direct-to-consumer platform and digital products for the federation.

FIH chief executive Thierry Weil said in a statement: “With 30 million players around the world in key markets in every continent, a gender equal participation – 51% women, 49% men – and a growing portfolio of FIH events with the inclusion of the very first FIH Hockey5s World Cup in 2024 and the launch of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup this year, hockey’s profile is rising.

“Therefore, I can only urge all broadcasters looking to send us their bid for the next broadcasting rights cycle.”
