The FIFA World Cup begins on November 20 at Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar. The first game sees hosts Qatar take on Ecuador in Group A of the tournament.
Is BTS Performing at the Opening Ceremony? The rumors mills started abuzzing when BTS started promoting ‘The Goal of the Century’, a global sustainability initiative by Hyundai Motors.
Hyundai Motors is the official sponsor and partner of the ‘FIFA World Cup 2022, and could be well on its way to having one of the biggest bands in the world on stage later this year.
A new version of BTS song ‘Yet To Come’ was also released on September 23, as part of the same campaign. In a press release earlier, it was announced that the band would be part of the campaign saying.
“As one of the most influential global artists in the world, BTS and their music greatly influence our society to develop in a positive direction. Through the World Cup campaign with BTS, we hope to create an opportunity for people all over the world to unite towards one goal of sustainability and cheer each other up.”
BTS could become the first K-Pop group to perform at a World Cup, having represented the country at the Tokyo Olympics last year. The band involves 7 members including Suga and Rap Monster and having made their debut back in 2015. Nothing is official yet, as the band prepares for the Expo Busan to be held next October. The World Cup returns after a four-year gap which saw France winning the previous edition in Russia.

The BTS members were first found in 2010 and officially debuted as a seven-member K-pop idol group in 2013. Now, they continue to grow across the world as the A.R.M.Y continues to become a global phenomenon.
