It was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who won his seventh Grand Prix of the F1 2022 season after keeping his cool out on the track. He had to fight for the lead but as Leclerc crashed out of the race, things played into the hands of the Dutch driver. He was followed by Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the second and third spots. With this result, Mercedes also registers their first double podium finish of the season.

Sergio Perez, who was looking comfortable for a third place finish was caught napping by Russell in the last virtual safety car period as the Brit overtook him. The Mexican then had to settle for a fourth-place finish after struggling the whole weekend. The driver of the day, Carlos Sainz started the race from the back of the grid but finished fifth overall. He and others will be furious after Ferrari’s decision to pit him with just 11 laps remaining.
