Before releasing any cosmetics to Fortnite, Epic Games adds its file to the game. Data miners often extract such file information and leak the news to the public. However, the developers have also been known to remove the files from the game. Usually, this is done when any cosmetic needs to be permanently removed or vaulted. Naturally, the removal of an Icon series skin file has raised queries in the community.

Popular fortnite data miner Shiina recently took to social media to reveal the news. It was confirmed that the in-game file that leaked the arrival of a Patrick Mahomes skin in Fortnite was removed.

The removal of the in-game file compelled gamers to consider that the skin has been scrapped. However, Shiina reveals that it is highly unlikely that Epic Games has scrapped the skin. Instead, it is possible that the developers need some time before they can introduce it to Fortnite. Therefore, the file has been removed from the game.

The existence of the Icon series skin was also leaked by Shiina back in May this year. Epic Games had accidentally added a few textures to the in-game files, one of which consisted of the Adidas logo. Another leak also revealed a cryptic symbol that belongs to NFL star Patrick Mahomes.

Several sports stars have featured as Fortnite Icon Series skins in the past. This includes Neymar, Naomi Osaka, Marco Reus, and LeBorn James. So far, no NFL professional has featured as a Fortnite Icon skin.

The addition of Patrick Mahomes would’ve made him the first from NFL to feature in the coveted list. However, the removal of the files containing his in-game files means that he needs to wait for some time before he can join other sports personalities in the list of Fortnite Icons.
