The selected team from India will get a chance to represent the nation in the National Esports Championships 2022. The qualifiers will be held in a double-elimination style and will end on June 20, 2022. The World Esports Championship will take place in Bali from November 27 to December 7, with a prize pool of USD 500,000 (about Rs 4 crore).
A total of 16 teams will participate in the CS: GO tournament, consisting of top players like Ritesh Sarda (Captain), Hrishikesh Shenoy, Anshul Ajay Adarkar, Shuvajyoti Chakraborty, Harsh Jain & Ninad Ramesh Sonare. And for the Tekken7 title, 37 players will participate in it, including top stars Hitesh Khorwal, winner of the last NESC2022 and Rohit Jain winner of NESC2022 (for WSL2021) and Abhinav Tejan

“We will now proceed with the tournaments witnessing top esports athletes giving cutthroat challenges in different categories to make it successfully to the WEC. It will be a gruelling event as the players will have to showcase their best strategy, skills and presence of mind, with the pressure to make the cut to be part of the Indian contingent for WEC’22. It will be an action-packed and edge-of-the-seat thrilling tournament for sure,” said Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India and Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation.
The DOTA squad, which is qualified for the 2022 Asian Games and includes senior athletes like Moin Ejaz (captain), Krish, Abhishek, Ketan, and Darshan, will be part of Team India at the 14th World Esports Championships. However, with regards to PES2022, the recent update of PES/eFOOTBALL still does not have an option to hold an online championship; given the situation, ESFI is evaluating to organise a physical event that may be held in Delhi/Mumbai.
The popularity and recognition of esports is witnessing a surge with its inclusion in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and other competitions of such magnitude. The representation of India in the global esports scene makes way for a possible bright future for aspiring players in the region.
