At this stage, he only has to score 3 more goals to break the Premier League Golden Boot record of 34 goals shared by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. Man City also have over 10 matches left to play throughout all competitions. Hence, Haaland could also be breaking Ronaldo’s career-best of 61 goals in one season.

Haaland has found the perfect partnership with teammate assist-merchant Kevin de Bruyne. Their teammate Bernardo Silva has called it ‘a special combination’ where De Bruyne loves the way Haaland makes well-timed runs to get in the perfect positions. De Bruyne recently took his assist tally to 100 in the Premier League when he set up Haaland for the perfect goal against Southampton.
Portuguese midfielder Bernardo who has played with both Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo has drawn up similarities between the two. He said, “The goal figures, it’s unbelievable; it’s Cristiano and [Lionel] Messi level, that amount of goals. Hopefully Erling can keep going that way because we need his goals until the last game of the season. He has definitely got the same mentality as Cristiano, always wanting to be in the box, always wanting to score.
He added, “He doesn’t care if he touches the ball one or two times, when he touches he scores. He’s just a proper striker… We watched him and we played against him, but you never know when he comes here, what level he can get to. But what he’s done so far this season has been amazing and we are really happy to have him with us. He’s definitely a special player and he’s helping us very much. I hope he can get even better.”
Haaland and co. have the all-important match against Arsenal on Wednesday which could just be the Premier League title winner decider. They have the Champions League semi-final first-leg match against Real Madrid two weeks later and the FA Cup final against Manchester United on June 3. An in-form Haaland could be the difference during these matches and help Man City win a treble.
