Justin Langer
Justin Langer is in the race to become England’s new head coach after his formal resignation from Cricket Australia. He took Australia from scratch after the ball-tampering scandal in 2018 to guide them to World No.1 in 2022 after Ashes glory. He also helped them clinch the maiden T20 World Cup trophy. He was only offered a 12-months deal to defend the T20WC crown at home later this year.
Gary Kirsten
South Africa’s Gary Kirsten is one of the names ECB are considering for the vacant position. The 54-year-old from South Africa started his professional coaching career with the Indian cricket team and played a crucial role in the men in blue’s World Cup triumph in 2011. He has since coached South Africa and a few franchise-based teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Hobart Hurricanes and is currently associated with the newly-formed Ahmedabad franchise in the Indian Premier League, where he is a mentor.
