A team on a mission, England targetted minnows Iran from the very beginning. Gareth Southgate’s men were ruthless from the very first minute of the game. Iran was forced off to an early change as Irani goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand was subbed off with a suspected concussion injury.
There was a lengthy stoppage of play as Beiranvand was treated on the pitch. With the game progressing, it was England who urged forward to score first. A wonderful cross from Luke Shaw saw Bellingham rushing forward into the box. The youngster jumped forward to execute a stunning header into the back of the empty net. Bukayo Saka then made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute of the game. Straight from a corner, Harry Maguire executed his physicality to lay off a perfect ball for Saka who unleashed a thunderbolt into the net.
2 minutes later, England managed a quick break of play. Bellingham dribbled past 3 Iranian defenders to pass to skipper Harry Kane. Kane then went on to provide a delightful pass as Sterling made it 3-0 for the Three Lions at Half time.
Just past the hour mark, Bukayo Saka was spotted dancing in the opponent’s penalty box as he unleashed a shot to put the ball at the back of the net. England continued their dominance with a 4-0 lead, before Mehdi Taremi pulled a goal for his side 3 minutes later. Gareth Southgate made a flurry of changes as he brought on more attacking players.

49 seconds after coming on the field, Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford made it 5-1 for his side with a sublime finish as England threatened to continue their onslaught. At the 90th minute mark, from a counte attack, Jack Grealish scored as England hit Iran for a half-dozen of goals. Iran was awarded a late penalty which Mehdi Taremi scored to reduced the deficit for his side.
