England Playing XI 5th Test: IND vs ENG LIVE: England have announced their playing XI for the rescheduled fifth Test against India, starting Friday at Edgbaston. They have opted to go ahead with only one spinner Jack Leach for the all-important Edgbaston Test. Ben Foakes has been ruled out of the fifth Test. It also marks the return of their lead pacer James Anderson, who did not feature in the third Test against New Zealand as well. He has been picked ahead of Jamie Overton. Ben Stokes will lead the side. Sam Billings will replace Ben Foakes behind the wicket with the latter testing positive for COVID-19 recently.
Anderson, England’s record wicket-taker in Test cricket, missed the third Test against New Zealand with an ankle injury. His duel with India stalwart Virat Kohli will be an interesting sub-plot of the match.

India are 2-1 up in the series which could not be completed last year because of Covid-19 cases in the India camp before the final match at Old Trafford.
