Kane Williamson Covid Positive: The rest of the touring party have returned negative tests.
“It’s such a shame for Kane to be forced to withdraw on the eve of such an important match,” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said.

Huge concern for the visitors –
The Kane Williamson situation will come as a huge concern for the NZ team management as they are already without Colin de Grandhomme. The experienced New Zealand captain could be a major miss considering his form and ability to stabilize the situation. New Zealand had a horrible battle collapse on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test having being bowled out for 132 runs.
Tom Latham to take charge of the side-
- As things stand, Tom Latham will take charge of the New Zealand side for the Trent Bridge contest.
- Latham was previously in charge of the side against Bangladesh in the home Test match series in January.
- Latham will have a tough task in hand as England will try to seal the series 2-0 in Nottingham.
- Hamish Rutherford will now have to fill the void left by Williamson as New Zealand would expect the series to go the decider at Headingley in Leeds.
