ENG vs NZ 2nd Test Live: Why New Zealand is making a master plan to counter Joe Root?

  • New Zealand were in control in major parts of the Lord’s Test, only to be denied victory by Root, who remained unbeaten on 115
  • The in-form England batter remained unfazed at the crease and played each ball on its merit
  • Root first formed a crucial partnership with Ben Stokes and later with wicketkeeper-batter Foakes
  • Jamieson was breathing fire at the other end, but Root found ways to tackle him. His innings ensured England’s smooth victory in the Ben Stokes + Brendon McCullum Test era
  • England have gone 1-0 up in a three-match Test series and New Zealand are wary of the Joe Root threat ahead of the Trent Bridge Test

ENG vs NZ 2nd Test: Jamieson keen on continuing his good form – One of the biggest positives for New Zealand in the Lord’s Test was the performance of Jamieson. The tall right-arm pacer picked up four wickets in the second innings and kept the team in the hunt till the very end. The 27-year-old will be keen to continue on his good form.

Within a short span, the right-arm pacer has gone to become Mr. Dependable fast bowler of the team. He is now ranked number three in ICC Test Rankings.

Kyle Jamieson

It’s a nice recognition of how well Jamieson is bowling, but he says it doesn’t mean much to him.

Not a huge amount to be honest,” he said.

“I’m just trying to learn and grow as a cricketer. I guess whatever those numbers spit out, they do. “I’m happy to be a part of this side and play my part in trying to win tests for this team. For me, that’s the main driver, the main focus. “

ENG vs NZ 2nd Test: Henry Nicholls likely to be picked in the team for the 2nd Test in place of Colin de Grandhomme

New Zealand are likely to make one forced change for the 2nd Test. Colin de Grandhomme has been ruled out of the Test series due to injury. Henry Nicholls is likely to come into the team as his replacement player.

“We’ve missed Henry over the last five, six weeks, so to have him back will be awesome,” Jamieson said.

“He’s put together a pretty good record and he’s been a key part of the side for a number of years.

“Hopefully we get him back and it will be nice to have his energy out there.”
