Dubai Tennis Championships: World No.1 Novak Djokovic is all set to headline action at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The 22 time Grand Slam winner’s participation in the ATP 500 event has been confirmed as the organisers have released the official entry lists for both its men’s and women’s tournaments. Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka and World No.1 Iga Swiatek are the high profile players who are set to feature in the Women’s singles. While the official entry list in the Men’s singles features Djokovic, it also includes last year’s Dubai winner and World No.5 Andrey Rublev, World No.7 Felix Auger-Aliassime, former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev and 2020 US Open finalist Alexander Zverev. Earlier this year Rafael Nadal also expressed his wish to participate in the tournament. However the hip injury that he sustained during the Australian Open has ruled him out of the tournament.

For Djokovic, the Dubai Championships will be his first tournament after his Australian Open win. The Serbian is however nursing a hamstring niggle and speaking after his Australuan Open win, he was unsure of how quickly his injured hamstring will heal. “As it stands today I am still signed in for the Dubai tournament, which is in a month’s time. I hope I’ll be able to come back to the courts in several weeks,” he said.

Meanwhile the Women’s field is very strong as 19 of the top 20 players in the WTA rankings are set to feature in the WTA 1000 event. Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, who won her maiden Grand Slam title in Australian Open 2023 will be the top two seeds. Also on the official entry list is Arab icon Ons Jabeur, a two-time Grand Slam finalist in 2022, and Coco Gauff, the 2022 French Open finalist.

The Women’s tournament is scheduled to be played from February 19 to 25. Following it, the ATP 500 tournament for the Men will begin on February 26 and will be played till March 4.
