Delhi Capitals got off to a flyer in their run chase with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw putting on their third successive 50-run partnership as DC made merry with the new ball. Warner continued his onslaught despite the departure of Shaw and was joined by Mitchell Marsh, who struggled to get going.
Warner soon departed for 66 which further accelerated DC’s downfall, with Rishabh Pant keeping the scoreboard ticking as Marsh managed a 24-ball 14 before being run out.
Marsh’s run out was followed by back-to-back wickets of Rovman Powell and Lalit Yadav, with Josh Hazlewood forcing a collapse. Shardul Thakur offered some support as Pant turned the heat on RCB with his counter-attacking 34, but it took a mind-boggling catch from Virat Kohli to send the Delhi captain packing.

Earlier in the day, Rishabh Pant won the toss and put RCB into bat and got off to a fine start picking up quick wickets of Anuj Rawat and Faf du Plessis. Virat Kohli also soon followed after an unfortunate run-out, but Glenn Maxwell kept the scoreboard ticking with a counter-attacking 50. Maxwell took Kuldeep Yadav for 23 runs in one over, but the DC spinner had his revenge after he got the Australian’s wicket.
Dinesh Karthik continued his rich vein of form and put on a brilliant partnership with Shahbaz Ahmed as RCB plundered the runs in the death overs. Karthik hit Mustafizur Rahman for 28 runs in one over as he and Shahbaz picked up 69 runs off the last four overs.
