With four gold medals, India’s count of gold medal has swelled up to 22 in the 2022. It is the same number of gold medals, India win in 2006 CWG as well.
The ultimate glory was in badminton. Of the three finals, only Lakshya Sen dropped a game, else it was smooth sailing for the Indians on show. First up, PV Sindhu was at her menacing best to clinch gold, defeating Michelle Li 21-15 and 21-13. It was somplete domination.
Lakshya might have been tested somewhat by NG Tze Yong in the final, but the Indian came all guns blazing in the final game to win it 19-21, 21-9 and 21-16. At the end, Chirag Shetty and Satwikraj Rankireddy confirmed India’s third gold on Monday, beating Lane-Vendy 21-15 and 21-13.

Table Tennis
In table tennis, it proved to be another great day. First up, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran came up with an impressive performance in the bronze medal match to beat Paul Drinkhall 11-9, 11-3, 11-5, 8-11, 9-11, 10-12, 11-9. In fact, he survived a scare after his opponent came down from 0-3 down to force a decider. In the gold medal match, Achanta Sharath proved to be too strong as the Indian clinched the gold medal. He defeated Liam Pitchford to win the contest 4-1.
Hockey
It was in hocket that the biggest disappointment came for India. They had to settle for India after the Australians scored seven goals past them in the all-important final. It was a day to forget for India hockey team. Though PR Sreejesh impressed in goal, the rest of the players fell flat.
With it, India’s search for the elusive gold continue. Australia continued their domination in CWG hockey. It was their seventh straight gold in seven CWG events, showcasing their domination.
