India have always been one of the strongest wrestling nations at the Commonwealth Games. India are expected to win a number of medals from the sport at Birmingham. Neeraj Chopra has been in an incredible form this season, finishing with medals in all three events recently. With the Indian javelin thrower known to up his game in big-ticket events, he could even breach the 90m mark at Birmingham to win gold.

Badminton: PV Sindhu (women singles) and Lakshya Sen (men singles)
PV Sindhu, like Neeraj Chopra, is known to master big events. The singles player from India is a sure shot gold medal contender. With the powerhouse of badminton China and Japan also not part of the competition, the road is quite clear for the Hyderabadi girl. With the kind of form Lakshya Sen has shown in the last few competitions, he will be a bright prospect for India in Birmingham.

Boxing: Amit Panghal (men’s 51 kg) and Nikhat Zareen (50kg)
Amit Panghal is regarded as one of the best boxers in the world in the flyweight division. Panghal will be eager to better his silver medal finish at the last edition at Gold Coast, Australia. As for Nikhat Zareen, there is a spring in her stride after becoming a world champion in May. Such kind of confidence will play an important role in helping her clinch gold.

Weightlifting: Mirabai Chanu (women’s 49 kg)
Mirabai Chanu has been carrying India’s flag in weightlifting for the last few years with great pride. She has collected medals at big international meets. The Commonwealth Games 2022 gives him another chance to add to his impressive haul of kitty. She will feature in the 49 kg category.
