Devon Conway, CSK’s replacement for Faf du Plessis, did not go as per plan as the New Zealander had a short stay in the crease in the IPL 2022 season opener on Saturday. The Kiwi left-hander got off to a nervy start, struggling to rotate the strike as both Umesh Yadav and Shivam Mavi kept the batters in check, capitalising on some early swing.
Conway managed to get only three runs to his name, before dancing down the track finding Shreyas Iyer at mid, who took a rather straightforward catch. Conway’s rash shot was further appalling considering that the defending champions had lost Ruturaj Gaikwad for duck earlier in the powerplay.
