The 36-year old reached the milestone in his 181st IPL game. Coming into bat after CSK lost two wickets for just 32 runs on the board, Rayudu looked in fine touch as he started building the innings for his team alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad. He started off cautiously by scoring just six runs off the first seven deliveries. Once he settled in, he managed to find atleast a boundary every over to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Having scored 46 off 30 balls, just when he looked set for a big score, he chased a widish delivery off Alzarri Joseph and hit it straight to Vijay Shankar at cover to bring curtains on his innings.
- The 36-year old has been one of the most successful players in the league, having been part of the title winning teams five times.
- He started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians and was part of the franchise from 2008 to 2018. He was with the side when they won their first-three IPL titles.
- He was then picked up by Chennai Super Kings during the 2018 auction and he played a crucial role in the team’s title victory in the same year.
- He was the fourth highest-run scorer of the season with 602 runs in 16 matches.
- He also won his fifth IPL title last year as CSK won their fourth trophy.
With the knock on Sunday, Rayudu has now scored 4044 runs in 181 matches at an average of 29.30. He has so far scored one century and 21 half-centuries in the league.
