In the Interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo said: “I don’t know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level. “I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true…”
Both Rooney and Ronaldo were a part of the golden generation squad of Manchester United under the rein of Sir Alex Ferguson. The duo played up front for the Red Devils from 2004 to 2009 where they enjoyed a good spell, though occasionally marred with controversies and ego clashes.

Ronaldo’s comments came after Rooney spoke out in an interview where he wanted the Portuguese captain to “get your head down and work”, thereby marking Ronaldo’s off-field antics in the game against Tottenham Hotspur “unacceptable”. Ronaldo refused to come on a substitute towards the latter part of the game and left the stadium before the match was completed.
It can be understood that Ronaldo’s comments against Wayne Rooney came as a retort to what Rooney spoke about him earlier. Previously Rooney told TalkSport: “Him and Messi are arguably the two best players of all-time and you can go either way with that, whatever way you decide. But I just think the things he has done from the start of season, it is not acceptable for Manchester United.”

As per reports, Manchester United is looking to fine Cristiano Ronaldo for his interview against the club. It can be well understood that most likely Ronaldo has played his final match for the Red Devils. Earlier in the interview, Ronaldo claimed that he was “betrayed by the club”.
